Training of stakeholders is an important element in the tackling the issue of missing children. We are working together with law enforcement experts in the field of missing persons who share their know-how, experiences and existing practices to better address the issue of missing persons, missing children specifically, and its root causes.
Over the years, we have actively worked towards providing training to law enforcement specialists, promoting best practices and effective tools for handling missing persons cases. This endeavor has garnered significant interest from the law enforcement community, who have shown a keen interest in various topics related to missing children and missing persons.
Building upon this interest, we initiated the development of a comprehensive training program known as the Law Enforcement Training Curriculum on Missing Persons (LETC). With inputs from active and retired law enforcement experts, we have crafted content that addresses various aspects of missing persons cases and related issues. Our aim is to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their response and increase the chances of finding missing persons, providing relief to their loved ones.
In collaboration with CEPOL, the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training, we have conducted joint webinars since 2021, covering topics such as improving the investigation of missing person cases, risk assessment, cold case investigations, alert systems for abducted or missing children, and the utilisation of social media in missing person cases. These webinars have attracted a substantial audience and have proven highly popular among law enforcement professionals, reaffirming the need for specialised training on missing persons.
The aim of this webinar is to provide an insight on return home Interviews to help law enforcement agencies make informed decisions on their use. By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to explain what a return home interview is, recognise the importance of return home interviews and list the important considerations for effective use of return home interviews.
