The University of Cologne, through its Faculty of Law (Chair of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, and Criminal Policy, led by Prof. Dr. Anja Schiemann), has partnered with AMBER Alert Europe Foundation to advance child safety and the protection of missing children.

This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), addresses critical societal challenges surrounding missing children, aligning with the principles outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The partnership focuses on several key areas, including joint research projects on child safety, data sharing and analysis, training and workshops for students and professionals, public awareness campaigns, and the exploration of innovative technologies to enhance search and protection mechanisms for missing children. By integrating the University’s expertise in criminal law with AMBER Alert Europe’s practical experience, the collaboration aims to generate impactful solutions that uphold children’s rights and well-being.
