AMBER Alert Europe Foundation and Maastricht University’s Faculty of Law are proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership aimed at advancing the search for and protection of missing children. The collaboration, formalized on January 20th through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will combine the Foundation’s expertise in child protection with the University’s academic excellence to foster research, education, and innovation in this critical area.

By uniting efforts, the partnership aims to tackle critical challenges in child safety through joint research on missing children and related societal issues. It will foster professional training, facilitate the exchange of data and best practices within ethical and legal frameworks, and promote public awareness initiatives. This collaboration leverages the strengths of both organizations to innovate and enhance strategies for protecting and locating missing children.

Frank Hoen, Chairman and Founder of AMBER Alert Europe, emphasized, “This partnership represents a significant step forward in uniting practical expertise and academic insights to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.” Prof. Dr. Jan Smits, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Maastricht University, added, “Our Faculty is extremely happy with this cooperation that will greatly benefit both the cause of AMBER Alert Europe and the profile of our Faculty.”
