In April, May and June, AMBER Alert Europe shared 9 AMBER Alerts for 12 children. Almost all children were recovered safe and sound. For one child, the 13-year-old Thanassis from Peristeri, Greece, the search continues. In June, a Luxembourg boy, for which the first ever Luxembourg AMBER Alert was issued, was found in good health in France.
On June 26th, a national AMBER Alert was issued for a 7-year-old boy from Rollingergrund, Luxembourg. The child was abducted in front of his school by his biological father, who was said to be dangerous because of a mental disorder.
Luxembourg’s judicial police inquiry immediately focused on the whereabouts of father and son. Soon after the abduction, the judicial public prosecutor agreed to launch an AMBER Alert with specific details and photos of the boy, the father and the getaway vehicle.
The notification was spread via media, social media and on billboards and traffic boards nearby Luxembourg’s main highways. Simultaneously, a European arrest warrant was issued against the father of the boy.
That same day, Luxembourg police was able to locate father and child in Villerupt, a French city nearby the Luxembourg border. The boy could safely be reunited with his mother.
