After the abduction and the death of the 17-year Anneli-Marie from Sachsen on August 18th 2015, the German NGO Initiative Vermisste Kinder calls for improving the German AMBER Alert system.
Initiative Vermisste Kinder states that German citizens are informed too late to be on the lookout for a missing child.
AMBER Alerts in Europe
In other European countries the AMBER Alert system proved to be successful to save the lives of missing children who are in imminent danger. In The Netherlands, for example, around 70 percent of the Dutch population can be reached within minutes. In 75 percent of the Dutch AMBER Alerts, the child was found safe. AMBER Alert Deutschland, which is operated by Initiative Vermisste Kinder, is currently able to reach 6 million citizens.
Initiative Vermisste Kinder is a member organisation of AMBER Alert Europe.
