Tomorrow is May 25th, International Missing Children’s Day. On this day people and organisations around the world commemorate and raise more attention for missing children.
Together with police experts from all over Europe, AMBER Alert Europe has developed short animated videos. These videos teach parents what to do when their child goes missing and how to prevent their children from going missing during the holidays. The campaign is supported by countries from all over Europe: Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic and the United Kingdom.
Initiatives across Europe
Members of AMBER Alert Europe are raising attention for missing children by widely distributing the prevention videos, for example via public media, screens in shopping malls (Estonia) and public screens and cinemas (Malta). Other members are organising special events and conferences.
A selection of events and conferences organised by AMBER Alert Europe’s member organisations:
- Charlie Hedges, missing children police expert for AMBER Alert Europe, will be speaking at a Conference in Lisbon organised by our Portuguese member APCD, called ‘Missing Children and Genetic Identity’.
- The Missing Persons Center and International Cooperation Bureau of the National Police in Poland organise a conference with 190 participants from all over Poland called ‘Cooperation and information exchange on missing people – new technologies’.
- The Slovak Police Force, in cooperation with Linka Detskej Istoty, will be organising a round table on missing children in Bratislava.
