On 5–6 March 2026, families of missing persons, law enforcement, and civil society came together in Córdoba, Spain, for “In Their Name”, an annual exchange organised by partner organisation QSDGlobal. AMBER Alert Europe attended for the first time.

Over 30 families stood together, holding photographs of their missing loved ones. Some have been waiting for answers for years, others even for decades. Their presence was a strong reminder that behind every missing persons case is a family that refuses to give up.

The exchange, organised in the presence of CNDES, the Spanish National Centre for Missing Persons, brought families, police, and civil society together to talk openly, about frustrations, but also about hope. Families’ voices drove the conversation, law enforcement actions were debated constructively, and civil society played a bridging role in ensuring that the search for answers continues.

AMBER Alert Europe strongly believes that every missing person deserves a response. On 9 March, Spain marked the ‘Day of Missing Persons Without Apparent Cause’, a day that makes clear that not every disappearance needs a criminal element to warrant a response. The threat to a person’s right to life must be reason enough to act.

AMBER Alert Europe deeply appreciates the work of QSDGlobal and CNDES in giving families a voice and ensuring that no case is left behind. Their approach sets an example for missing persons work across Europe.
