On Wednesday 15 April the Polish Police issued a Polish AMBER Alert (Child Alert) for a 10 year old girl from Szczecin, Poland. The girl was successfully recovered after the AMBER Alert was issued. With the help of AMBER Alert Europe, the photo of the abducted child was also disseminated in Germany.
There were strong indications that the abductor crossed the German border with the child. Together with the Polish Police and the German NGO Initiative Vermisste Kinder, AMBER Alert Europe coordinated the spread of the AMBER Alert in Germany. This led to the successful recovery of the girl in Friedland, Germany, 80 kilometers from the Polish border and 500 kilometers from Szczecin.
Via large public screens in Berlin, at railway stations across Germany and via social media, German citizens were asked to be on the lookout for the abducted Polish girl. This has tremendously increased the reach of the alert.
