Why AMBER Alert Europe? I’m passionate about a good cause and highly skilled in human rights advocacy vis a vis the EU Institutions, using the diplomacy skillset. At AMBER Alert Europe I can advocate for better protection of children from going missing and their safe recovery, using all my academic degrees in synthesis: international relations, criminology, and human rights law.

Hi, I’m Nana Barbakadze Leenaerts, EU Affairs Coordinator at AMBER Alert Europe. Proud alumna of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Tbilisi State University. I have a total of five academic degrees: BA in International Relations, BA in Law, MA in Criminology, MA in Law, and LL.M in European and International Human Rights Law. I speak a total of seven languages: Georgian, English, Spanish, Hebrew, Russian, French, and Dutch. During the 10 years of my professional career, I have always worked towards advancing human rights, from the Public Defender (Ombudsman) Office to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to joining AMBER Alert Europe, I served as a diplomat to the EU with a human rights diplomacy portfolio.
Some fun facts about me: I love going to art exhibitions, I take my coffee/dark roast espresso very seriously and according to my daughter, I make the most delicious Mexican fajitas with homemade salsa verde. 😊
