AMBER Alert Europe has launched ShareWise Schools, a new Erasmus+ funded project aimed at helping children stay safe online. The project addresses challenges such as unsafe image sharing, deepfakes and online harassment. By developing practical educational resources, ShareWise Schools aims to help schools raise awareness and equip young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

Helping young people navigate online risks

Sharing photos, communicating through social media and interacting online are part of everyday life for many young people. However, these activities can also expose them to risks such as online harassment, pressure to share private images and the misuse of images through deepfakes.

Schools have an important role in helping children understand these risks and recognise when to seek help. ShareWise Schools aims to support them by making online safety education more practical, accessible and relevant to young people’s experiences.

A key part of the project is giving students aged 12–17 an active role in prevention. With guidance from teachers, they will help develop awareness activities and messages that speak to their peers, encouraging safer online behaviour and mutual respect.

Turning awareness into practical tools

Throughout the project, participating schools will work together to develop and test educational materials addressing safe image sharing, consent, online pressure and other digital risks.

These activities will contribute to the ShareWise Campaign Kit, a collection of practical resources including workshop materials, campaign templates and guidance for teachers. The kit will help schools organise their own online safety activities and support students in recognising and responding to potentially harmful situations.

Once finalised, the materials will be made freely available, allowing other schools to benefit from the project’s work.

Working together for children’s online safety

Running from September 2026 to February 2028, ShareWise Schools is coordinated by AMBER Alert Europe in partnership with AGIFODENT in Spain and Anamur Vakıfbank Atatürk Ortaokulu in Türkiye. CEAD Francisco Suárez at Universidade Lusófona in Portugal contributes as an associated academic partner.

The project is supported by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme and forms part of AMBER Alert Europe’s broader prevention work to protect children.

Through ShareWise Schools, we hope to help young people make more informed choices online and give schools practical ways to support them.
