AMBER Alert Europe welcomes the Serbian Foundation Tijana Juric as an official member of AMBER Alert Europe.
The Foundation Tijana Juric was named after the 15-year-old Tijana Juric, who was abducted and murdered on July 26, 2014. Tijana’s father, Igor Juric, decided to set up the foundation in memory of his daughter.
By Joining AMBER Alert Europe, the Foundation Tijana Juric hopes to improve the protection of missing children across Europe and ultimately save their lives. “The goal is that the tragedy that happened to my family will not happen to other families and to be able to save every child that is in imminent danger”, says Igor Juric.
In Serbia the Foundation Tijana Juric already started off with a big win, after its proposal for faster police response in missing persons cases got approved by the Serbian parliament on July 16, 2015. Igor Juric initiated the change of an article of Law after the police waited 24 hours to request the location of Tijana’s phone which was later proven to be too late. The amended police law, now known as Tijana’s law
, requires police to start the search immediately after a missing person is reported.
