Live blog closed: German abducted boy (1.5) found safe and sound

Update November 19th: the abducted boy (1.5) from Freyung, Germany, has been found safe and sound. The offender has been arrested in Lloret de Mar, Spain.

Update November 18th: German newspaper, Passauer Neue Presse, reports that the abductor messaged his family to inform them he will turn himself in. At the moment, he is no longer in Germany. However, once he is back in Freyung he will go to the police.

In addition, the ZDF tvshow Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöstreported on this case, appealing its public to be on the lookout for the boy and his abductor. The appeal led to 30 leads, which the Bundes Kriminal Amt is currently investigating. Please find a clip of the the appeal below.

Update November 16th: The German Police (Bayern) requested to urgently spread the photo of a missing boy (1.5) from Freyung, Germany. The boy was abducted by a 22-year old man after the killing of the boy’s mother on Saturday November 12th 2016 . The man is probably traveling in a black Volkswagen Golf, license plate: WOS-LH-96 (German). The police has indications that the child has been taken abroad.

Although Germany has no formal AMBER Alert structure in place, this is an urgent request of the Bavarian Police to the public to be on the lookout for the missing child and an adult (Öffentlichkeitsfahndung). The abduction meets the international criteria for an AMBER Alert. The German NGO Initiative Vermisste Kinder brought the abuduction to the attention of people in Germany. The photo of the boy is being disseminated via social media, German telecom providers, large info screens in train stations, metro stations and warehouses.

November 12th: A 1.5 year old boy has been abducted by a 22-year old man from Freyung, Germany. The remains of the mother of the boy were found in an appartment in Freyung.
