ICMEC and AMBER Alert Europe develop global framework for setting up AMBER Alert systems

To strengthen the ever increasing interest in AMBER Alert systems all over the world, AMBER Alert Europe partnered with ICMEC to produce a 14-point framework on implementing an AMBER Alert system.

ICMEC, the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, and AMBER Alert Europe, the European Child Rescue Alert & Police Network on Missing Children, have been helping countries all over the world in setting up AMBER Alert systems.

Frank Hoen, President AMBER Alert Europe: “We have developed this global framework with ICMEC to support countries in setting up national AMBER Alert systems. Eventually this will result in better alert systems to find more missing children”.

Alert systems are currently used in 24 countries and only in cases where a child is in immediate risk or harm and law enforcement is asking the public for help. In 2017 AMBER Alert Malta, developed by AMBER Alert Europe, will be launched.
